The new Pila-Couis gondola is another fundamental step in our history: it will revolutionize the experience of our mountain resort and make one of the most iconic panoramic points of the Aosta Valley accessible.
During the summer of 2024, we are proceeding with the construction of the second section of the new Pila-Couis system to replace the two-seater chairlift from the late 1980s with a new ski lift that will take you to Couis 1 in 15 minutes with a comfortable 10-seater gondola.
During this period, the panoramic refuge is being built.
DecemberWith the 2024/2025 winter season, we will inaugurate and open the second section of the new system to skiers and snowboarders. Getting to Couis has never been easier: in just 5’10” minutes, sitting in the comfortable 10-seater gondolas, you will be able to reach the top of Couis1, without queues and waiting times.
The new panoramic refuge will not be open yet, although its structure will be almost complete. Work will be stopped during this period.

1746 Power in kW During the spring and summer of 2025, work will begin and be completed on the construction of the departure station and the intermediate station Pila Gorraz. During this period, work will also be carried out to improve access to the facilities and to redo the square in front of the ticket office.
The Stella del Couis panoramic refuge and all the sections of the new Pila-Couis gondola lift will be ready to welcome visitors. Passenger transportation will be provided in both directions, to guarantee and allow even non-skiers and bikers to experience something unique throughout the entire Alpine arc: a 360° view of all the Alps over 4000 meters.
The system can also be opened and operated at night, making the impossible possible: reaching the stars in about 30 minutes from Aosta.
The new gondola lift and the Stella del Couis panoramic refuge are not just investments to improve the tourist experience, but also ambitious projects that aim to stimulate the economic growth of the area and the community, create new job opportunities, strengthen local activities, relaunch tourism and bring Pila even closer to Aosta.
